Enter the KORG SYNTHPOSIUM: a joint event hosted by City Music and the electronic minds from synth enthusiast group, Synth Commune. Relish in KORG’s irreplaceable classics and state-of-the-art modernities in an afternoon chock-full of educative workshops, hands-on demonstrations, idea-driving musical oddities and revitalising live performances.
Walk through the KORG Museum, a haven for both newcomers longing to experience iconic Korg models and veterans looking to hear the influential sounds of their era once more. KORG SYNTHPOSIUM is an event for all synthesists to bond, connect and nurture their love for music.
KORG’s Synth Beginnings
1962, the bustling streets of Tokyo. Nightclub owner Tsutomu Katoh and his regular performer Tadashi Onasai were in a shortfall; they required a rhythm machine that could accompany Onasai’s accordion impeccably well. This need for innovation sparked the duo’s founding of Keio Electronic Laboratories (now KORG Inc.) and the creation of the Donca Matic DA-20 drum machine.
Having come a long way since, KORG is now a global manufacturer of digital pianos, synthesizers, workstations and drum machines—even expanding their range of products to tuners, metronomes, effects processors and MIDI controllers. KORG equipment is currently endorsed by famous musicians such as Justin Lee-Schultz, Herbie Hancock, Moe Shop and many more.
