The sensor’s proprietary RGBW architecture hosts equal quantities of red, green, and blue pixels, optimizing it for the rendition of gorgeously rich colors at all resolutions to provide groundbreaking image quality and flexibility. Blackmagic Generation 5 Color Science features a new film curve optimized to fully exploit the enormous amount of color data from the new URSA Cine sensor. Flexible large-format capabilities
The large-format sensor in the URSA Cine gives directors maximum flexibility in choosing aspect ratios, lenses, and delivery formats for their projects. The full sensor area provides a magnificent 3:2 open-gate image that lets you reframe your shots in post. Use that expansive sensor area to shoot anamorphic and deliver in an array of aspect ratios. Plus, you can shoot in 4K, 8K, or 12K using the entire sensor without cropping, while retaining your lenses’ full available field of view. The URSA Cine even offers Super 35 9K 4-perf, 3-perf, and 2-perf modes for compatibility with vintage cinema lenses. This unprecedented flexibility lets you create distinctive-looking content at the highest quality.
Broad resolution, frame rate, and aspect ratio support
To realize the vision of today’s cinematographers, modern cinema cameras must accommodate a myriad of resolutions, frame rates, and aspect ratios. To that end, the URSA Cine supports resolutions of 4K, 8K, 9K Super 35, and even stunningly detailed 12K. You can shoot at frame rates of 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94 or 60 fps. At higher frame rates, you can shoot 12K 3:2 open gate up to 80 fps, 12K 17:9 up to 100 fps, 12K 2.4:1 up to 120 fps, 9K 3:2 Super 35 up to 100 fps, 8K/4K 3:2 open gate up to 144 fps, and 8K/4K 2.4:1 up to 224 fps. The URSA Cine captures video with sophisticated motion rendering in 8K and 4K, even at lower frame rates. What’s more, with a gargantuan 100 megapixels per frame at up to 80 fps in Blackmagic RAW, you can capture eye-popping stills and motion shots simultaneously!
