For most people, creating some of the world’s most iconic and imitated guitars and basses would be enough. But Leo Fender was not “most people.” After leaving his eponymous guitar company, Leo teamed up with George Fullerton to found G&L Musical Instruments in 1980. This new company enabled Leo’s inventive spirit to flourish at the CLF Research factory on Fender Avenue in Fullerton, California. As a brand, G&L has introduced many notable innovations, including Leo Fender’s Dual Fulcrum Vibrato, Saddle Lock bridge, and Magnetic Field Design (MFD) pickups. Today, instruments like the Legacy guitar and the JB bass have evolved to include more classic tones, thanks to alnico pickups.
