Vox
In the late 1950s, guitarists were seeking more volume and sustain, and that was the aim of Dick Denney when he created the first Vox amplifier, the AC1/15. London guitarists soon flocked to the distinctive sound: it was even featured on Vic Flick’s recording of the “James Bond” theme. It wouldn’t be long until up-and-coming bands demanded even more power from their amplifiers, which led to the AC30/4 Twin, with 30 watts driving two 12″ Celestion speakers. This amp would establish Vox as the go-to amplifier for rock ’n’ roll guitarists.
