The Rampage Is Back — with a Facelift!
While the G&L Fullerton Deluxe Rampage 24 bears the hallmarks of its ’80s-era predecessor, its 6-string fury is elevated with a lighter-weight alder body, Floyd Rose hardware, and two full octaves of fretboard action. The Deluxe Rampage 24 offers refined playability as well, thanks to extended cutaways, a sculpted heel, and added relief behind the lower cutaway. One thing that hasn’t changed, however, is this solidbody electric guitar’s tone; its alnico-loaded G&L AW4370 humbucker is still a veritable sludge factory, churning out mind-numbing grind by the truckload, but with enough classic character to keep things grounded. The Deluxe Rampage 24 brandishes a sleek hard-rock maple neck with a familiar 1980s-style profile, along with a fast-playing 12-inch-radius fingerboard with Plek-processed medium-jumbo frets. You also get a Floyd Rose Original double-locking tremolo, enabling you to access the gamut of whammy-abusing pitch pyrotechnics with rock-solid tuning stability. Players craving the old-school Rampage experience will be blown away by the G&L Fullerton Deluxe Rampage 24 — it’s the most high-performance iteration yet.
24 frets of extended playability
Even in its original incarnation, the G&L Rampage was a player’s dream. The Deluxe Rampage 24 takes this playability to new extremes, however. For starters, it eschews the original guitar’s unwieldy heavyweight maple body for one built from lighter-weight alder. Furthermore, you get an expanded 24-fret fingerboard, extended cutaways for easy upper-fret access, a sculpted heel, and added relief behind the lower cutaway. This solidbody electric’s hard-rock maple neck boasts a sleek, easy-playing profile based on the original ’80s-era instrument, and its fingerboard features a lightning-fast 12-inch radius and Plek-processed medium-jumbo frets. There are countless shred-guitar aficionados here at City Music, and we feel that the Deluxe Rampage 24 ranks up there with the best of them.
Scorching-hot G&L humbucker
The G&L Fullerton Deluxe Rampage 24 is outfitted with an alnico-loaded G&L AW4370 humbucker — the same pickup that was used on the original Rampage. This humbucker is built using 43-gauge wire with 7,000 turns, yielding a high-output crunch with plenty of searing upper harmonics and just a touch of vintage character. Once you hear the Deluxe Rampage 24’s unmistakable grind, you’ll cast your mind back to ‘90s-era Alice in Chains, as the AW4370 is the pickup that fueled Jerry Cantrell’s playing during the earliest years of the band’s burgeoning career.
Bulletproof Floyd Rose hardware
While the ‘80s-era Rampage guitars were outfitted with Kahler trems, the Deluxe Rampage 24 brandishes a Floyd Rose Original — arguably the modern gold standard for double-locking tremolos. Thanks to the Floyd Rose, the Deluxe Rampage 24 can perform physics-defying pitch bends with zero tuning woes. What’s more, Floyd Rose tremolos are more than tough; they truly feel like heaven beside you, inspiring you to take more risks and propel your playing to exciting new heights. The Deluxe Rampage 24 also includes a Floyd Rose Original locking nut and string retainer.
