George and Leo’s Take on a Classic Bass
This sleek reimagining of the ’90s-era LB-100 is G&L’s answer to the timeless P-style bass guitar. Its streamlined poplar body and split-coil pickup supply the bloom, warmth, and attack you need to achieve rubber-band soul grooves as well as stage-rumbling rock riffage. The familiar single volume and tone controls give you blazing access to decades of coveted tones. And G&L’s Saddle-Lock bridge anchors strings directly into the wood for increased transfer of vibrational energy. Playability-wise, the LB-100’s 34-inch-scale hard rock maple neck with rosewood fingerboard is absolutely flawless. In many ways, it’s Leo Fender and George Fullerton’s P-style bass, perfected. Rounding out the look and vibe of the LB-100 are G&L’s precision open-gear tuners with large-format clover tuning keys. Experience the latter stages in P-style evolution with the G&L Tribute LB-100 bass guitar from City Music.
Sleek poplar body
Leo Fender and George Fullerton found a way to top the classic P-style bass with G&L’s LB-100 in the 1990s — and by extension, today’s Tribute LB-100. This bass’s body has a familiar shape and form-fitting contours that even traditional players are sure to love. It’s crafted from lightweight poplar to supply a reduced stage weight with no sacrifice to warmth or note definition, which means you can rock harder and longer under the lights without feeling it in the morning.
Rock-solid maple neck
A bass lives and dies by its neck. We’re pleased to report that the G&L Tribute LB-100’s hard rock maple neck more than holds its own against known classics and contemporaries. Its beautifully carved medium “C” profile supplies a substantial feel in the hand without getting in the way of a performance. And that rosewood fingerboard is going to win you over with its silky smooth feel, ideal for slow or fast grooves.
Alnico split-coil pickup
For fans of the classic ’50s and ’60s sound, nothing tops the punch and growl of Leo Fender and George Fullerton’s first bass guitar. A key ingredient in this bass’s mix-gluing flavor is its alnico-magnet split-coil pickup. The LB-100 looks to the original recipe for its pickup construction, using alnico pole pieces and modern winding techniques to deliver a timeless tone with enough output to handle modern styles of rock and metal.
Saddle-Lock Bridge
The Tribute LB-100’s Saddle-Lock bridge reduces lateral movement of the saddle pieces by tightening an Allen screw on the side of the bridge. Additionally, the Saddle-Lock bridge has a solid protrusion on its backside that is sunk firmly into the instrument’s body wood. Together, these two features make it easier for string energy to travel into the body and translate into a rich, resonant, and sustaining sound.
