As a part of the record player’s integrated phono amp, Korg’s cutting-edge Nutube is built upon the Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) technology that Japan’s Noritake Itron Corporation first developed back in 1966. Compared to conventional vacuum tubes, Nutube has a smaller footprint in terms of both power consumption and physical size. At the same time, its genuine triode structure delivers the smoldering warmth, distinctive depth, and characteristic charm of a standard vacuum tube. For the handytraxx tube, the Nutube not only enriches your sound and captures the historic magic of analog playback, but also features a dedicated Tube control. Right out of the box, the Korg handytraxx is ready to roll with a preinstalled MM cartridge from Jico, a world-renowned designer and developer of turntable cartridges and styli for all manners of DJing, turntablism, beat juggling, and casual listening. The included J44 A7 stereo cartridge features a conical stylus that hosts a spherical, 0.7mm synthetic-diamond tip alongside an aluminum cantilever and an immense 20Hz–20kHz frequency-response range. Taken together, you’re treated to robust basses, powerful presence, and a wealth of dynamic range, culminating in a detailed soundstage that’s amplified by the laser-focused tracking and precision of the cartridge’s cantilever.
