Tribute to the 1980s G&L Fallout
Inspired by the SC-model mods performed by players like Bob Mothersbaugh (Devo) and Robert Poss (Band of Susans), the G&L Tribute Fallout overhauls the 1983 SC-2 for a new generation of rockers, poppers, and balladeers. This axe’s defiant curves and bold adornments speak to its punk-rock pedigree. You get epic performance from its comfortable, sustain-rich G&L Saddle Lock bridge and a heaping helping of farm-fresh stage and studio tones served piping hot from its alnico P-90 and humbucker pickups. A push-pull tone control even gives you a dash of those classic single-coil cleans for which Leo Fender is best known. Whether you’re a fan of the classic SC series or just looking for a thoroughbred rock guitar you can put through the wringer, we at City Music are sure you’ll love taking the stage with the G&L Tribute Fallout slung around your shoulder.
A favorite mod platform
G&L’s SC-model guitars are longstanding favorites for modding and hot-rodding. Today’s Tribute Fallout revives the classic shape and design of the SC-2, now with “pre-modded” electronics, modern-spec hardware, and a great-playing tinted neck that nods to G&L’s history while looking to its future.
Alnico P-90 and humbucker pickups
From funky scratch cleans to sputtery punk aggro, the Tribute Fallout has you covered for tonal variety. Its powerful alnico pickups are brought to you by none other than world-renowned guitar manufacturer Cort, a testament to this instrument’s incredible quality before even plugging in. In the neck position, you’ve got the consummate post-rock darling: the soapbar P-90. While P-90 pickups are typically known to love gain (and this one does), Cort’s design cleans up nicely, delivering spanky, sparkling cleans with the volume rolled back. In the bridge resides a classic humbucker, tailor-made for decadent palm-mute crunch. A yank of the tone knob unleashes classic single-coil tones in this position, giving you a wealth of options to occupy a multitude of sonic territories.
Saddle-Lock bridge
The Tribute Fallout’s Saddle-Lock bridge reduces lateral movement of the saddle pieces by tightening an Allen screw on the side of the bridge. Additionally, the Saddle-Lock bridge has a solid protrusion on its backside that is sunk firmly into the instrument’s body wood. Together, these two features make it easier for string energy to travel into the body and translate into a rich, resonant, and sustaining sound.
